Duluth teenager arrested for 2nd-degree murder after 19-year-old woman found dead

Duluth police officers arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection to the death of a 19-year-old family member Friday evening, according to a news release from the Duluth Police Department.

Police first responded at 6:42 p.m. to the 1700 block of East Superior Street for a disturbance call regarding a man who was allegedly assaulted. Police said they spoke to the man and determined that no assault took place.

Later, officers were called to the same address for a medical call. The news release states that police then found an unresponsive woman, a 19-year-old family member, with injuries. She was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

Duluth police then determined the 14-year-old family member was involved. A search warrant was conducted and the boy was arrested and booked at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center on 2nd-degree murder charges. He is currently awaiting formal charges from the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office.

No names have been released as of Saturday evening.

Police said no further information will be released at this time due to the active investigation.
