DNR: Upper Red Lake to have bag limit of 3 walleye during winter season
Monday, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced new regulations on Upper Red Lake that would allow a bag limit of three walleye during the winter fishing season.
Anglers are also only allowed to keep one walleye that is longer than 17 inches.

The new regulations go into effect Sunday.
The DNR cites heavy winter fishing over the past four years as the reason for the restrictive regulations. Annually, an estimated 130,000 pounds of fish are harvested over the winter season in Upper Red Lake.
