Dave Chappelle to perform at First Avenue, Varsity Theater this week
Iconic music venue First Avenue announced Monday afternoon that comedian Dave Chappelle will be doing a standup show in the mainroom on Wednesday, July 20th.
Tickets for show went on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday and have already sold out. Tickets were $129.50 each plus fees. Currently, the cheapest official resale tickets on AXS for the show are $165.
Unlike most shows at First Avenue mainroom which are standing room only, this will be a fully seated general admission show.
Since posting about the event on Facebook, First Ave has now limited its comments on the event post. Many people commented saying they were not pleased about Chapelle being booked, primarily due to his prior comments about trans people. We have reached out to the venue for comment, but have not heard back yet.
On Tuesday, another event center in Minneapolis, the Varsity Theater, announced Dave Chappelle will be performing two shows there on July 21st and 22nd.
Varsity Theater then announced that two additional late shows have been scheduled for those dates due to popular demand.
Tickets for those shows go on sale at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 19th.
