Bloomington house fire under investigation, arson suspected

Firefighters were at the scene of a house fire in Bloomington Tuesday.

According to the Bloomington Police Department, crews were at the scene along the 5000 block of Nine Mile Creek Circle.

The fire department reported firefighters from several fire stations had responded to the scene.

In an update, the fire department reported firefighters were able to get the fire under control. The fire’s cause is under investigation but officials say they believe it was intentionally set.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS later learned that police arrested an occupant of the home a short distance away in connection to a St. Paul homicide that occurred Tuesday morning. That suspect — identified by police as 47-year-old Patrick Morris Simmons — was also booked on probable cause arson, according to Bloomington Police.
