Buffalo man identified as victim of Maple Grove road rage shooting

The man who was shot and killed Sunday during a road rage incident in Maple Grove has been identified.

William Floyd Haire, 61, of Buffalo, Minnesota, died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

Police say Haire and another driver had gotten into an argument when the other driver shot him just before 3 p.m. near County Road 30 and Garland Lane North. Both of them drove away from the scene, and Haire was then found in his car on the side of a ramp onto Interstate 94.

Medics took Haire to North Memorial Health Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries within two hours of the shooting.

Police say there is no indication the two parties involved in the shooting knew each other before the altercation.

The search for the shooter is ongoing.
