Minnesota State Mankato campus reopens after bomb threat; 2 suspects identified
Minnesota State Mankato’s campus fully reopened Friday afternoon after a bomb threat temporarily closed two buildings.
An alert from the campus said campus security was notified of a bomb threat posted on social media at around 10:40 p.m. Thursday. One threat targeted Armstrong Hall, another named Otto Recreation Center.
According to the school, both buildings were searched and nothing was found. However, the buildings remained closed until 4 p.m.
University officials said they’re working closely with the Mankato Department of Public Safety.
The school later said two suspects were identified and are cooperating with law enforcement.
Staff members were told to move classes in those buildings online or cancel them, according to a note from Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Brian Martensen.
Anyone with information or questions is being told to contact university security at 507-389-2111.
