Bicyclist hit by vehicle in Brooklyn Park
UPDATE 11:40 a.m. – Police say a bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle in Brooklyn Park Sunday evening is in critical condition.
According to Brooklyn Park police, the 36-year-old man was trying to cross 69th Avenue North against the traffic signal just before 7:30 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old woman.
Witnesses say the bicyclist was hit after weaving through traffic near Zane Avenue.
Late Sunday night, police had stated the man was hospitalized with significant injuries and that he was expected to survive.
The woman wasn’t injured, according to police.
INITIAL REPORT 6:25 a.m. – Police say a bicyclist is in the hospital recovering from what are being described as “significant injuries” after being hit by a vehicle in Brooklyn Park.
According to witnesses, the collision happened just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday near 69th and Zane avenues north.
The witnesses say the bicyclist was hit by the vehicle after weaving through traffic.
Brooklyn Park police say the bicyclist is expected to survive.
