Bicycle donation drive for kids accepting donations Oct. 8 at 26 locations
People across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin can donate bicycles or volunteer to help with distribution for the 12th annual bicycle drive by Allina Health and Free Bikes 4 Kidz Minnesota next month.
New or gently used bikes can be dropped off at 26 different Allina Health locations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.
See a complete list of locations HERE. Most are hospitals and clinics, with the exception of the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Stillwater.
Allina asks people to spread the word about the drive, adding that the drive accepts bikes tailored to able-bodied children and children with disabilities.
Those interested in volunteering can sign up here. Volunteers are expected to help clean bikes and get them ready for distribution in the spring.
Kids will get bicycle safety information and a helmet when they receive their bike.
In a press release, the health care system said the goal is contributing to a “happier, healthier” childhood for local kids.
“As a health care organization, we recognize good health habits start early,” said Allina Health CEO Lisa Shannon.
