Becker County man sentenced to 8 years after dropping cinder block on victim’s head

A Becker County man was sentenced Thursday for an assault on the White Earth Indian Reservation that involved him dropping a cinder block on someone’s head last year.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 23-year-old Wesley Robert Warren was sentenced to eight years (100 months) in prison and three years of supervised release.

Court documents state Warren and another man got into an argument with a victim on the morning of June 3, 2020. The argument escalated into a fight and the victim was knocked out. While the victim was lying on the ground, Warren dropped a 42-pound cinder block on the victim’s head, causing the victim to be hospitalized for several weeks due to brain trauma.

After a four-day trial, a jury found Warren guilty of two counts of assault back in June.
