Becker County man who dropped cinder block on victim’s head convicted of assault

A federal jury has convicted a Becker County man of assault charges after he knocked a person out and dropped a cinder block on the victim’s head last summer on the White Earth Indian Reservation.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 22-year-old Wesley Robert Warren was convicted of two counts of assault after a four-day trial. The jury acquitted Warren of two other counts.
According to the attorney’s office, Warren and another man got into an argument with a victim on the morning of June 3, 2020. The argument escalated into a fight and the victim was knocked out. While the victim was lying on the ground, Warren dropped a 42-pound cinder block on the victim’s head, causing the victim to be hospitalized for several weeks due to brain trauma.
Warren faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release on each count, the attorney’s office said.
A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.
