Bar fire determined to have started in dumpsters, cause still unknown

Authorities say the fire at a Waterville bar earlier this spring was started in plastic dumpsters behind the building, however, what caused the fire to ignite is still unknown.

According to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office, the March 26 fire that destroyed the Funky Munky Bar spread from the dumpsters behind the building to a wooden overhang, and then into a roof or attic area before the bar building.

In addition, authorities say the fire damaged the NAPA building located next to the bar, vehicles that were parked in an alley behind the bar, Wiste’s Meats and the apartments located above the meat market.

As previously reported by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, no one was injured.
