Anoka man charged with machine gun, meth possession, grenade launcher found in home
Charges were filed against an Anoka resident for intent to distribute methamphetamine and gun crimes, according to an announcement from United States Attorney for Minnesota Andrew Luger.
Court documents state that Darrian Mitchell Nguyen was charged after a confidential human source alleged to investigators that Nguyen was in possession of drugs and explosive devices.
A complaint says that the confidential source owed Nguyen a debt, and was asked to provide the defendant with firearms in order to settle the debt.
During a controlled delivery by law enforcement, Nguyen took possession of a machine gun and four auto sears leading authorities to search his home.
Inside Nguyen’s home, investigators found several firearms including an “AR style firearm equipped with a grenade launcher” in a hidden room of the home.
Prior to this interaction, investigators had used the confidential source to purchase 7.1 grams of meth from Nguyen.
Nguyen is charged with one count of machine gun possession, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession of a firearm not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
The case is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI.
