68-year-old killed in St. Cloud crash Thursday afternoon
St. Cloud police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on 20th Avenue Southeast, south of Minnesota Boulevard.
Investigators determined that one vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old pregnant woman, was traveling northbound on 20th Avenue Southeast. The driver approached a curve and decline in the road and lost control, causing the vehicle to slide head-on into an oncoming vehicle that was driving southbound.
The passenger of the southbound vehicle, a 68-year-old man, suffered serious injuries in the crash and died at St. Cloud Hospital, police said. He has not been identified by law enforcement at this time. The driver, a 61-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was brought to St. Cloud Hospital by police.
The driver of the other vehicle was also brought to the hospital with minor injuries.
The police department said it is looking for a witness who stopped to help shortly after the crash. The witness left before police arrived but investigators would like to speak with them.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, police said. The roads were covered in ice and snow at the time.
