4 injured in pair of overnight Minneapolis shootings
Four people were injured overnight in two separate shootings, Minneapolis Police Spokesperson Officer Garrett Parten said Saturday.
Around 2:19 a.m., officers came across a vehicle going the wrong way down a one-way street and conducted a traffic stop near South Marquette Avenue and Seventh Street South.
Officers confirmed that both the driver and passenger of the vehicle, both men in their 20s, were suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police were able to provide aid until paramedics arrived and transported the victims to the hospital. Both mens’ injuries were not life-threatening, police said. Two more people in the back of the vehicle were uninjured.
The car’s occupants provided “limited” information to police but did say they were shot at by unseen people while driving.
About 30 minutes later, police responded to another shooting near Lyndale Avenue South and West 22nd Street.
Just before 3 a.m., officers found a man who’d been shot sitting in a vehicle, Parten said. While police were rendering aid to the man in his late 20s, three to four people tried to keep law enforcement from helping the victim. More police responded to help with crowd control.
A second woman, also with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, was found in a nearby business. Both victims were taken to the hospital.
Police believe the incident escalated from an argument whilst a group was waiting to enter the business.
No one is in custody and both shootings are under investigation.
