3 Minnesota hospitals recognized on list of best children’s hospitals

Children’s Minnesota, M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and Mayo Clinic were listed in the top 50 Best Children’s Hospital for 2021-22 by U.S. News & World Report.

The 15th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings recognize the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S. in 10 pediatric specialties.

Children’s Minnesota ranked number 42 in pulmonology and lung surgery and number 50 in diabetes and endocrinology.

M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital tied for number 26 in nephrology, then ranked 34th in diabetes and endocrinology as well as 49th in gastroenterology and GI surgery.

Mayo Clinic ranked number 12 in orthopedics, number 21 in urology, number 35 in cancer, tied for number 38 in diabetes and endocrinology and neonatology, number 39 in neurology and neurosurgery, number 43 in cardiology and heart surgery, and then tied in number 45 in pediatric gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery.

We’re able to provide truly innovative care through our partnership with the University of Minnesota," said Pediatric Gastroenterologist Sarah Jane Schwarzenberg, MD, M Health Fairview Women’s and Children’s Service Line Co-Chief and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Minnesota Medical School. "Through that partnership, our legacy of discovery and family-centered pediatric care stretches back 100 years."

This is the eighth time that Children’s Minnesota’s pulmonology program has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the program set out to educate teens, parents and health care professionals about the dangers of vaping, including the risk for more severe COVID-19 symptoms.

As for M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, this is the 14th year in the row it has been recognized by U.S News and World Record.
