3 in critical condition after home invasion in Kanabec County

An Ogilvie couple is in critical condition following a home invasion, according to authorities. The victims were identified as Jeffrey and Rebekka Ponto, who are 50 and 56, respectively.

The suspect in the home invasion is also in critical condition. His name will be released when a criminal complaint is drafted.

The Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies responded to an assault in Ogilvie early Sunday morning.

The Pontos were transported to Welia Health before being transported to metro-area trauma centers, where they remain in critical condition, officials said.

The suspect was flown to a metro-area trauma center and is also in critical condition, according to officials. He is not from the immediate area and no longer poses a threat to the community, officials said.
