3 arrested after shot fired, pursuit in Brooklyn Park
Authorities say three people were arrested Thursday night after a short pursuit and a report of a gunshot.
Brooklyn Park Police says officers received a report of a gunshot near Brookdale Park just before 8:20 p.m. The caller also said a large group of people was leaving the area in vehicles.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed and running stop signs, the department says. Officers caught up to the vehicle near Brooklyn Boulevard and Noble Avenue North and tried to stop the vehicle, but drove away, starting a chase.
After a short distance, the officer stopped chasing the vehicle due to public safety concerns.
A short time later, Brooklyn Center police found the vehicle near Brooklyn Boulevard and 51st Avenue North and stopped it. Police said the driver tried to get away, but the vehicle was disabled and the three people inside were arrested.
Police say officers found a handgun with an extended magazine in the vehicle, as well as a full auto switch conversion on the handgun.
The three suspects were booked into the Brooklyn Park jail for weapons offenses and fleeing police.
Officers haven’t located any damage from the reported gunshot but the case remains under investigation, adding no one was found to have been injured by the gunshot.
