3-alarm fire destroys home in Shakopee
Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire in Shakopee Tuesday.
According to the Shakopee Fire Department, the fire occurred on Wood Duck Trail at about 8 a.m.
The fire was quickly upgraded to a three-alarm fire, with Bloomington firefighters providing assistance.
The Shakopee Fire Department said firefighters had to use tanker trucks to haul water to the site because the neighborhood isn’t served by city water, which made fighting the flames more difficult. Crews were on scene for about five hours.
According to the department, the fire caused considerable damage to the basement and first floor of the home. The department said the house is believed to be a total loss.
Firefighters believe it started in the basement utility room but the cause remains under investigation.
Nobody was injured.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
