2 people dead after fire near Menomonie Sunday morning
Two people are dead after a fire broke out inside a single-story duplex just south of Menomonie Sunday morning.
A news release from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office states the 911 call was received at about 5:20 a.m.
Menomonie firefighters and deputies from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office then responded to the fire near the intersection of 410th Avenue and County Road Y.
The release states that a neighbor and family members tried to rescue two people inside the home, but “were unsuccessful.”
When emergency responders arrived, the home was reportedly full of smoke with flames visible. The two people were found inside, but were “beyond help” according to the news release.
Both were pronounced dead by the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The causes of death and the origin of the fire is under investigation. Identities will be released when family is notified.
