Woman seriously injured after early morning crash inside I-94 Portland Tunnel
Authorities say a woman is recovering from life-threatening injuries after a single vehicle crash around 2:30 a.m. Monday inside the Portland Avenue tunnel in Minneapolis, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.
Early information indicates a Chevrolet Impala was entering the tunnel on eastbound Interstate 94 when the driver lost control. The car then struck the right side of the tunnel, spun, and hit the left side of the tunnel head-on, the report says.
The car’s driver was identified Monday afternoon as 29-year-old Nicole Marie Price of Minneapolis.
Additionally, the Impala’s airbag deployed. Previously, it was unknown if Price was wearing her seatbelt, however, authorities said Monday afternoon the belt was being used.
It remains unknown if alcohol was involved.
