1 injured, 1 arrested after shooting, short pursuit in Brooklyn Park

One person was arrested Thursday morning after a reported shooting and short pursuit in Brooklyn Park.

According to Brooklyn Park Police, officers responded to the 6600 block of 83rd Court North just after 8:30 a.m.

Police say they found five townhomes that had been shot into, and found one man who had been shot after going inside the homes to give first aid. The man was then taken to an area hospital, and is expected to survive, although he was bleeding “excessively” when officers found him.

Officers say they determined the shots came from inside a townhome, and while police surrounded the home, a 43-year-old man drove away at a high rate of speed after going through a garage door.

When the vehicle continued, officers briefly pursued it before disabling the vehicle using a PIT maneuver on the 8400 block of Hampshire Avenue North, but not before the man drove into two squad cars.

The male suspect in the vehicle then refused to get out, police said, so SWAT personnel and crisis negotiators were called to the scene. Eventually, the suspect complied and was arrested.

Police said they aren’t seeking any other suspects.

An investigation is ongoing.
