'Purple Rain' coming to Netflix in February

Prince's 'Purple Rain' is coming to the streaming platform Netflix in February.

Netflix announced its upcoming releases for next month on Wednesday.

The 1984 film features Prince playing "the Kid," who is a Minneapolis musician on the rise with his band, the Revolution, escaping a tumultuous home life through music, according to IMDb.

Prince earned an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for the film. The film itself also earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score.
