Unifi to lay off 58 workers at St. Paul facility
Nearly 60 workers in St. Paul will lose their jobs at Unifi Aviation in the next month.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice (WARN) filed with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Unifi plans to permanently lay off 58 employees from its facility at 5101 Northwest Drive in St. Paul.
The notice says Delta Air Lines will stop using Unifi’s mechanical services on March 31, and Unifi plans to lay off employees on April 1.
Employees will be offered chances to transfer to other divisions of Unifi, and Delta has also offered to hire employees who meet their hiring criteria, the WARN letter states.
Unifi also called Delta’s decision “sudden and unexpected,” in the WARN letter.
It’s unclear what led to Delta’s decision.
