An estimated 8 million children and adults in the U.S. take melatonin to help them fall asleep, but experts say there is not enough scientific evidence to determine the safety of this supplement.
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends people avoid taking melatonin for insomnia until better studies come out.
