A phone call on Tuesday put Michelle Glaser into a panic. Her nephew, 14-year-old Nicholas Lambertson, and another 14-year-old boy, Blake Nohre, were hit by an SUV in north-central Minnesota.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says three boys were on their bikes on County Road 9, just south of Carlos, when the two were hit.
Nohre died, while Lambertson suffered major injuries.
"When my brother-in-law got there, he (Lambertson) said, ‘Dad he hit me, that car hit us,’" Glaser said. "He is doing as well as he can be. He definitely is fighting. He has severe breaks, both femurs are broken. A tibia break, bruised lungs, a skull fracture, an incredibly awful wound on his left leg. Every day, every hour there’s signs of improvement. So we just hand those things, and know that Nick’s a fighter, he’s always been a fighter, and that we’re going to continue to fight for him as much as we can."

Lambertson is the youngest of four, and his aunt says he was born with a hereditary blood disorder.
"He’s such a lively, energetic goofy kind of loving kid," Glaser said.
Investigators say the driver did stop and is cooperating.
The family has created a GoFundMe page to help with their medical bills.
