14-year-old bicyclist killed, another hurt in crash involving vehicle in Douglas County

A 14-year-old bicyclist was killed and another was hospitalized after being hit by an SUV in Douglas County.

A news release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said first responders were called just before 10 p.m. Tuesday on the report of a crash involving bicycles on County Road 9 near Carlos. 


One of the 14-year-olds was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by Lifelink. A third cyclist was uninjured in the incident. 

According to the sheriff's office, the three 14-year-old bicyclists were traveling southbound on County Road 9 when a southbound SUV collided with two of the cyclists.
