Ramsey County Fair canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic
Due to the continued restrictions on mass gatherings, the Ramsey County Fair will be canceled this year.
The fair announced the news Thursday, saying the board directors for the Ramsey County Agricultural Society made the decision in the best interest of all involved after gaining input from fair stakeholders. It had been scheduled for July 15-19.
"The decision was made based upon the potential impossibility of monitoring and enforcing social distancing requirements, the health and safety of the community, the fair's vendors, carnival, staff, and exhibitors, as well as to preserve the financial ability of the Ramsey County Agricultural Society to present future fairs," fair organizers said in part in a post on Thursday.
The post also noted that if the Minnesota State Fair is held, the board voted to support the 4-H program in presenting and judging 4-H exhibits to allow participating youth to secure a trip to exhibit at the state fair. Currently, 4-H programming has been suspended until June 30.
The 2021 Ramsey County Fair will now be its 108th year.
