Victim killed in south Minneapolis shooting identified
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified 23-year-old Troy Trevante Byrd as the man who was shot outside a residence on Thursday night in south Minneapolis.
According to the report, Byrd died from multiple gunshot wounds at the Hennepin County Medical Center emergency room.
On Thursday, officers responded to a report of shots fired just before 9 p.m. in the area of 22nd Street East and 13th Avenue South. While they were en route, dispatch notified them that callers had reported a shooting, according to Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson John Elder.

When police arrived on the scene, they were advised that Byrd, who was shot, had already been taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
Officers went to the hospital to find Byrd had suffered "grave" injuries, Elder said. He died shortly after the officers arrived.
No one is in custody at this time, Elder said.

The shooting remains under investigation. This is the 11th homicide of 2020 in Minneapolis.
