St. Paul man dies after being hit by a car

St. Paul police say a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on Dec. 14 has died of his injuries.

He was identified Tuesday as 48-year-old Antwone Tyrell Rolfer.

Officers were called to the crash around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of 7th and Kittson streets. Medics brought Rolfer to the hospital in critical condition.

Antwone Rolfer’s daughter, Tikyra Rolfer, told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS her father passed away on Saturday.

“It was a tough week for me, just knowing that he’ll never come back and having to make the decision to put him on comfort care and things,” Tikyra Rolfer said during an interview Tuesday.

She said her father cared deeply for his large family, many whom stayed by his side the week before he died. The family then went to the scene and left flowers and balloons behind.

“My dad was so young and he had more life to live,” Tikyra Rolfer said. “It’s something that I still can’t come to reality with.”

The family is raising money for a funeral.

Police are still investigating the crash, but said at the time the driver was cooperating and didn’t show any signs of impairment at the scene.
