Crookston officer fatally shoots man, BCA investigating
A Crookston police officer fatally shot a man late Sunday night.
Police said officers responded to a fight at the Care and Share homeless shelter on East 3rd Street around 11:46 a.m. There, they found a man who was combative toward officers and wasn’t following commands, according to police.
Less lethal force was deployed before an officer fired their handgun, hitting the man.
Police rendered aid, but the man died at the scene, authorities said.
The officer who shot their gun is on standard critical incident leave, police said.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
Crookston officers fatally shot a man on May 16 after he ran at them with a hatchet.
