Forecast First Alert for unhealthy air Thursday

Here is your Wednesday evening forecast from meteorologist Wren Clair

Winds behind tonight’s cold front will be strong out of the northwest, where Canadian wildfires continue to burn.

A Forecast First Alert is in place for Thursday due to ground-level smoke that will lead to unhealthy air for all individuals (not just sensitive groups). The smoke will start to enter Minnesota overnight basically north to south. That will mean an increased concentration of smoke particles for the Twin Cities Thursday PM. Plan on limiting time outdoors tomorrow for sure. The Air Quality Alert that’s in place right now is for midnight tonight through Friday night. However, right now it does look like the air quality will improve Friday. If that smoke forecast holds, the air will still be unhealthy Friday for sensitive groups of individuals.

HEAT RETURNS THIS WEEKEND WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 90’S AND HEAT INDEX VALUES NEAR 100 DEGREES, LIKELY THROUGH WEDNESDAY OF NEXT WEEK

VERY DRY AND HOT LOOKING WEEK AHEAD, WITH WORSENING DROUGHT LIKELY
