State Patrol: 5-year-old dead, 4-year-old seriously injured in Ramsey crash
The Minnesota State Patrol says one child is dead and another is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash Thursday night in Ramsey.
According to a Minnesota State Patrol incident report, the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. on westbound Highway 10 near Armstrong Boulevard after the driver of a Toyota Sequoia lost control in slick road conditions. The SUV hit a cement wall on the right side of the road and flipped over.
The incident says 32-year-old Amanda Reardon, identified as the driver, was taken to Mercy Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, 4-year-old Avery Reardon and 5-year-old Elijah Reardon were riding in the vehicle.
The report goes on to say Elijah died due to his injuries, while Avery was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
All three are listed as residents in Becker, Minn.
No alcohol use is suspected, and everyone in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt, according to the State Patrol.
A Minnesota 511 crash alert associated with the incident showed the highway was shut down for a portion of the evening.
