Closings, disruptions due to COVID-19 outbreak

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, there have been major disruptions to many business operations, events and people’s lives in general.

Gov. Tim Walz’s extended ‘stay at home’ order runs through May 4.

You can call the state’s COVID-19 hotline with your health questions at 651-201-3920 or 1-800-657-3903. Calls are answered from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Interpreters are available to help with hotline calls.

Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended canceling or postponing all gatherings of 50 people or more for eight weeks.

Below is a list of other disruptions KSTP is following:

GROCERY STORE HOUR CHANGES

  • Lunds & Byerlys stores will be open from 7 – 8 a.m. each day for shoppers who are at a higher risk of severe illness by COVID-19, including older adults and those with compromised immune systems. Stores will also be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily until further notice.
  • Kowalski’s Hennepin and Grand stores will be open from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily and other markets will be open from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. Store representatives are asking shoppers to reserve the 6-8 a.m. time slot for immunocompromised customers.
  • Target stores will close at 9 p.m. local time daily to give their team additional time to clean and restock. That change will begin March 18. The first hour of shopping will also be reserved for vulnerable shoppers.
  • Whole Foods will offer the hour before the store opens to those who are 60 and older to do their shopping. Additionally, most stores will be open from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Starting March 15, Walmart stores and Neighborhood Markets are open from 6 a.m. to 11 pm. until further notice to give associates more time to stock and clean.
  • Cub Foods announced 13 stores will operate 24 hours per day while all other locations will reduce hours to 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., asking that 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. be reserved for vulnerable shoppers.
  • Costco announced all warehouses will have hours temporarily changed. Beginning March 30, Monday through Friday they will be open 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Costco also announced that as of April 3, only two people will be allowed to enter a warehouse with each membership card. Members are also required to wear masks when in the store.

      HEALTH CARE CENTERS

      • As of March 12, visitors are not allowed at CentraCare hospitals, longterm care facilities, senior housing, hospital outpatient departments, ambulatory surgery centers and sites where individuals are housed in large numbers
      • Sholom senior housing has suspended all non-essential visits to Sholom facilities as of March 12.
      • Allina Health announced visitor restrictions at its facilities stating sick people are not allowed to visit patients, all patients are allowed two visitors per day and children under 12 are not allowed to visit.

      • Park Dental practices are closed March 16 to March 21, pending further information.
      • HealthPartners & Park Nicollet are canceling most non-essential classes and events. All elective surgeries, procedures and non-essential radiology services through HealthPartners will be postponed through April 3. It also started restricting visitors in most situations as of March 18.

      BUSINESSES

      • Monday, March 16, Gov. Tim Walz ordered the temporary closure of restaurants, bars and "places of public amusement."
      • Floyd’s 99 Barbershops in Minnesota will be closed until further notice.
      • Robbinsdale Wine & Spirits will be closed through March 30.
      • Mall of America will be closed March 17 until "at least" March 31
      • May Day Cafe closed temporarily beginning March 16 after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
      • ALTR is suspending studio operations until March 30.
      • Hard Times Cafe closed temporarily beginning March 15.
      • Surly Brewing Company is limiting capacity and adding online ordering amid the virus outbreak.
      • D’Amico & Sons restaurants in Golden Valley, Roseville, Wayzata and Minneapolis are closed, effective Monday, March 16 through Sunday, April 12.
      • Punch Neapolitan Pizza is temporarily closing its restaurants starting March 16.
      • Hot Indian Food is closing all three of their locations, effective 3 p.m. Monday, March 16 until further notice.
      • Morphe Brushes is closing all stores in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. through March 29.
      • Apple stores are closing for two weeks.
      • REI stores are closing until March 27.
      • Al’s Breakfast in Minneapolis is shifting to takeout-only beginning March 17.
      • Birchwood Cafe in Minneapolis is shifting its hours to 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, curbside pick-up only.
      • The Bachelor Farmer and Marvel Bar are closing until further notice due to the virus outbreak.
      • Bremer Bank said on Monday they are closing all lobbies but drive-thrus will remain open starting March 18.
      • Keg and Case in St. Paul is closing March 17-27.
      • Sephora is closing all of its retail stores in the U.S. and Canada from March 17 through April 3.
      • Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is suspending several operations, including volunteer activities, programs and services as well as events through varying dates.
      • Electric Fetus in Minneapolis closed as of March 17. Online orders and free shipping are still options at the store.
      • Macy’s stores closed nationwide temporarily beginning March 17.
      • Edina Liquor’s three locations have been temporarily closed starting March 17. Delivery hours have been expanded.
      • Best Buy will be open for curbside pickup only.
      • The Animal Human Society said they will be closing their doors beginning March 18 through May 2.
      • HOM Furniture & Gabberts is temporarily closing all store locations starting March 19 and plans to reopen on April 1.
      • Southdale Mall temporarily closed effective at 7 p.m. March 19 until March 29.
      • Twin Cities Premium Outlet temporarily closed effective at 7 p.m. March 19 until March 29.
      • JCPenney closed starting 7 p.m. March 19 and scheduled to reopen on April 2.
      • Galleria Edina closed temporarily close March 19 at 6 p.m. and re-open on April 3.
      • TJ Maxx and Marshalls are closing all of its US stores, effective on March 19. Online orders will also be suspended until further notice.
      • Kohl’s is temporarily closing their stores beginning March 19 at 7 p.m.
      • Bachmann’s is closing to the public beginning March 19 until at least April 6
      • Ridgedale Center is temporarily closing. Certain restaurants in Ridgedale will have limited hours.
      • Rosedale Center will be closing at 5 p.m. Friday, March 27 until at least April, 10.
      • Burnsville Center will close beginning at 7 p.m. March 26 until further notice.
      • Fifth Element in Uptown is closing its doors permanently on April 1. Will still offer retail online for all things Rhymesayers Entertainment.

      • From March 17-April 5, all Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board buildings will be closed. All activities, including childcare, at MPRB sites will be canceled during that time.
      • As of March 12, the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood Association is canceling its public events and meetings through April 17.
      • Bed Race for Bridging event scheduled for March 14 has been canceled.
      • The North Suburban Home Show scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.
      • All planned events at the Burnsville Center have been canceled or postponed.
      • St. Paul St. Patrick’s Day events canceled due to COVID-19
      • Bloomington has announced several upcoming city events that have been canceled.
      • Twin Cities In Motion cancels Hot Dash 5K and 10 Mile planned for March 21.
      • Walk with the Mayor event in Edina canceled (previously scheduled for March 21).
      • Moorhead’s Celtic Festival at Hjemkomst Center canceled (previously scheduled for March 21)
      • The Moorhead Ice Show postponed was scheduled from March 21 to 29.
      • Minneapolis Trombone Choir concert, scheduled for March 15, has been canceled. No future date has been scheduled.
      • Senior Expo, held in Anoka County annually, has been postponed. It was originally scheduled for April 18.
      • Eden Prairie’s annual Home, Landscape and Garden Expo has been canceled. It was originally scheduled for March 21.
      • Spring Parade of Home has been paused through at least April 2 and the Spring Remodelers Showcase has been canceled.
      • The 26th Annual Stone Arch Bridge Festival has been moved to September 26-27 this year.
      • The Basilica Block Party, originally scheduled for July 10 and 11, is cancelled for 2020.

        ENTERTAINMENT VENUES

        • Can Can Wonderland lays off staff, will be closed until further notice
        • Nickelodeon Universe is closing beginning March 18 (but MOA will remain open).
        • The remainder of the 2020 Twin Cities Auto Show has been canceled.
        • Disneyland Resort in California will close beginning on March 14 through the end of the month. Disney World Resort in Florida will close beginning March 15 through the end of the month.
        • Minnesota State Fair grandstand tickets now only available online.
        • St. Paul’s Luckypalooza St. Patrick’s Day festivities have been canceled.
        • Emagine Entertainment is limiting the number of guests per auditorium for public showings to 50% of the theater’s capacity and instituting social distancing protocols in addition to other cleaning measures.
        • AMC Theatres is closing its theaters for at least six-12 weeks.
        • The Landmark Center announced multiple events have been canceled, including the 2020 Day of Irish Dance and St. Patrick’s Day Celebration and the Urban Expedition Series.
        • Disney on Ice performances at Target Center scheduled for March 13-15 have been canceled.
        • Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is suspending all performances through April 12.
        • Great Wolf Lodge will be closed beginning March 15 through April 2.
        • First Avenue announced that they have suspended all upcoming concerts and events.
        • The Cedar Cultural Center is canceling or postponing all upcoming shows through April 15.
        • Theater Latté Da is suspending performances until April 1.
        • Bryant Lake Bowl & Theater is closing temporarily starting Tuesday (March 17).
        • The Cowles Center is postponing all scheduled spring 2020 performances.
        • Grand Casino Minnesota locations are closed as of Monday at 4 p.m. They will be closed for two weeks.
        • Pinwheel Play in Chanhassen is closing their facility temporarily beginning Sunday, March 15.
        • Treasure Island Resort and Casino will temporarily close beginning March 17 for at least two weeks.
        • Mystic Lake, Little Six and Mystic Lake Center will close on March 18, for at least 14 days.
