State Patrol: 3rd pedestrian hit on Minnesota roadway Monday okay

The Minnesota State Patrol reported a third pedestrian crash Monday, although unlike the fatal crashes in Dakota and Otter Tail counties, the pedestrian struck in Aitkin County is expected to be okay.

A State Patrol report says just before 7:30 p.m., an SUV was stopped and facing west on Highway 210 while at a stoplight on the intersection of Highway 169 in Aitkin. It goes on to say the driver then headed north on 410^th Avenue, also referred to in part as Minnesota Avenue North.

That’s when the vehicle made contact with a pedestrian. Authorities didn’t describe where the vehicle and pedestrian were situated on the roadway at the time of the crash.

The pedestrian, a 74-year-old man from Aitkin, went to Riverwood Health Care Center for injuries that the State Patrol described as non-life-threatening.

The driver, identified as an 86-year-old man also from Aitkin, wasn’t hurt.

Alcohol was not involved, according to the report.

Earlier in the day, a 39-year-old man was killed in Burnsville while walking across a highway.

Additionally, just an hour before the crash in Aitkin, a 74-year-old man was hit and killed in an Otter Tail County township while walking on a highway.

Authorities are investigating all three crashes.
