Richfield High School prepares for first home game since homecoming shooting

Friday, leaders at Richfield High School are preparing to host their first football game since a shooting outside the stadium almost one month ago, which caused Homecoming festivities to be delayed.
District officials say there will be changes for those planning to attend the game, and the following security measures will be in place:
- Only students from the two schools playing can attend the game, although community members will still be welcome to attend.
- Richfield High School students will need an ID to get into the game.
- Students in grades K-8 will need a parent chaperone to get into the game
- Fans won’t be able to get in after halftime or re-enter the game at any time.
- There will be separate entrances for fans of the opposing team.
- No backpacks, outside food or beverages will be allowed inside
Richfield High School is also working with schools from nearby districts to ensure students’ safety at away games.
Two teens, including a current Richfield student, were initially arrested. However, as previously reported, one of the teens was released.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says it has charged a 15-year-old in connection with the shooting.
Police said an 18- and 21-year-old man, were hurt in the shooting, but are expected to be okay.
