This weekend people can watch traditional Native American dance and music in Shakopee.
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is holding their annual Wacipi, commonly known as a pow wow, Friday through Sunday.
On Thursday, some members danced at Mall of America in advance of the weekend event.
The pow wow runs Aug 19-21 at the Wacipi Grounds in Shakopee. The event has evolved over the years from a gathering or celebration to a contest. Dancers and drumming groups will compete in a variety of categories.
The event is free and open to all to attend. Native American vendors will also be at the pow wow selling food and crafts.
