Fire engulfs St. Michael home where 40-hour standoff happened in June
A fire broke out at a home Wednesday morning in St. Michael that engulfed the house in flames.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the 500 block of Central Avenue West at about 9:37 a.m. Wednesday.
No injuries were reported.
In June, the home was the site of an armed standoff between law enforcement and 39-year-old Brandon Gardas.
Gardas was shot and taken to the hospital after opening fire on officers and threatening to shoot at surrounding homes during negotiations. He is now facing charges for attempted murder and assault.
