9-year-old girl dies from accidental shooting in Lyon county

A 9-year-old girl shot in the head on Monday has died from her injuries.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the 9-year-old victim passed away Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office says that the shooting has been ruled accidental, and no other updates will be provided.

On Monday, EMS and other first responders were called to a rural residence on a call that a firearm had been discharged and struck someone in the head.

Responders arrived and found the 9-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the sheriff’s office. She was air-lifted for medical treatment.
