Minneapolis man sentenced to life in prison for 2020 killing
A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a fatal shooting in 2020.
Brent Buchan, 25, was sentenced Thursday for killing 25-year-old Joshua-Lee Boyce on Oct. 25, 2020.
Buchan was indicted by a grand jury in July 2020, and was convicted of both first-degree and second-degree murder earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the 1700 block of Emerson Avenue North just before midnight on Oct. 25, 2020, after a ShotSpotter activation. There, police found Boyce bleeding in the doorway of his father’s home, and he claimed Buchan shot him.
Boyce was taken to a hospital but later died.
