One family-owned restaurant has been a staple in the Uptown area of Minneapolis for decades.
The owners of Kinhdo Restaurant were worried they’d have to close down because of the rise in their rent — that’s until their son and the community stepped in to help.
Owner Dathao Phan’s son, Jonathan, started a GoFundMe which has raised more than $20,000 to help keep the restaurant open.
“It was just that act that he did it like he’s an amazing man,” Phan said. “It’s an amazing feeling that the community will come together.”
“I have no words,” Jonathan Rowe said. “I don’t know what to say. I’m so grateful for all the donations that we received.”
Kinhdo restaurant opened in 1986 and has been a fixture in the Uptown area.
