Black male teachers were celebrated on Tuesday for Black History Month with a program helping them by paying off their student loans.
"Black Men Teach" announced a program that will help pay student loans for black male elementary school teachers.
The organization was launched to support black male teachers who have outstanding student loans from earning their teaching degrees.
According to Black Men Teach, to qualify, the teacher must be currently teaching at an elementary school in the Twin Cities and hold a proper license.
The program said they can pay up to $40,000 over a five year period.
The applications can be found at the Black Men Teach website and are due on March 20.
