Man dies after Sunday night shooting in Minneapolis

A man died at a hospital early Monday morning after a shooting in Minneapolis Sunday night.

Minneapolis police said officers responded to a shooting at 8:05 p.m. in the area of Bryant Avenue South and Lake Street West. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a man believed to be in his late teens suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside a car with another person in the area of Fremont Avenue South and Lagoon Avenue South when a man got into the back seat of the vehicle and attempted to rob them. During the encounter, a shot was fired, striking the victim.

2 injured in separate Minneapolis shootings

The suspect fled and the vehicle drove off, stopping near Bryant Avenue South and Lake Street West and notifying the police.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office later told police the victim had died at the hospital.

The medical examiner will release the victim’s name and cause of death at a later time.
