Woman killed in ‘suspicious’ Crystal incident identified, arrest made

A woman who was killed in an incident in Crystal last week that police called "suspicious" has been identified, and a suspect has now been arrested.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 29-year-old Nigar Mammadzada.

The report listed Mammadzada’s cause of death as multiple shotgun wounds and classified it as a homicide.

Crystal police investigating suspicious death, person of interest located

Crystal police officers received a report of an unconscious person in a home along the 3500 block of Welcome Avenue North at about 4:51 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, officers found Mammadzada inside the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they’d located a person of interest as of Friday morning and the incident wasn’t random.

Tuesday morning, the department announced 38-year-old Erik Paul Eggleston was arrested and charged in connection to Mammadzada’s death.

Police also urged all victims of domestic violence to reach out for help by calling 911 or contacting a violence program.
