Previous Experience
Kevin joined KSTP 5 Eyewitness News in July of 2015.  He has been a Broadcast Journalist for 30 years and has been involved in thousands of TV newscasts as an Anchor, Reporter, Producer and Photographer.  Kevin got his start in 1985 at KCMT TV in Alexandria, Minnesota, now known as KCCO TV, and at KTTC TV in Rochester, Minnesota.  He has worked at WSAZ TV in Huntington, West Virginia, and WRTV 6 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  For the past 15 years he was evening News Anchor and Managing Editor at WROC-TV, in Rochester, New York.

Memorable Interviews and Rewards
Kevin is passionate about reporting on veteran's issues, education, mental illness and the impact poverty has on our communities.   He has earned two regional Emmy Awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association for excellence in electronic journalism, the National Anna Quindlen Award from the Child Welfare League of America for excellence in journalism on behalf of children and families. He has also won awards from the Associate Press for his reporting and his anchoring.

Personal Interests
Kevin is a champion of adoption. He was born in St. Paul, adopted by Tom and Marguerite Doran and grew up in Brainerd.  In 2012 he was inducted into the Brainerd High School Hall of Fame. Kevin’s wife is a Rochester, MN native. They have two daughters; a U of M student and high school junior.  The Doran's love boating, fishing, hunting and rooting for all of Minnesota's sports teams, especially the Vikings, Twins and the Gophers!
