One airlifted after early morning Somerset house fire

Two people were injured and one airlifted after an early morning fire in Somerset, Wisconsin Saturday.

At about 1:30 a.m., Somerset Fire/Rescue crews responded to a structure fire on the 500 block of Hud Street.

Two people were in the home at the time of the fire, according to Fire Chief Travis Belisle. One person escaped with minor injuries. Somerset Police helped rescue a second person shortly before the fire department arrived. That individual was treated on the scene then transported to Regions Hospital via LifeLink. Their status is unknown.

Crews had the fire under control within 25 minutes of arrival and cleared the scene around 5 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the chief does not believe it was suspicious.

St. Joseph Fire and EMR Department, New Richmond Fire & Rescue, Lakeview EMS, LifeLink, Somerset Police and St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department assisted during the incident.
