1 dead after UTV crash in Freeborn County
A 30-year-old Mankato man died after a UTV crash in Freeborn County Saturday.
According to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, at 3:49 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an injury crash involving a UTV at 29000 block of 632 Avenue in Wells, MN.
Deputies said the UTV left the yard and lost control as it entered 632 Avenue heading southbound. The UTV rolled into the east ditch, ejecting 30-year-old Derek Michael Lindely, of Mankato and pinning him under the machine.
Lindely was given life-saving measures on the scene but succumbed from his injuries, said the sheriff’s office.
The UTV also had a passenger who was uninjured by the incident.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Freeborn Ambulance, Alden Fire Department, North Air Care Air Ambulance, and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain.
