Body found near I-35 ramp in New Market Township, investigation underway

Authorities are investigating after a body was found Friday morning off Interstate 35 in Scott County.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the area near the northbound ramp from County Road 2 onto I-35 in New Market Township at around 8:47 a.m.

There, deputies found the body of a dead male, the sheriff’s office says.

“Our investigators will be working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to make an identification and determine the circumstances surrounding this death,” Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen said in a statement. “The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.”
