Tuesday marks 59 years since JFK assassination
Tuesday, Nov. 22 marks the 59th anniversary of the assassination of former President John. F. Kennedy.
Kennedy was shot during a motorcade in Dallas, Texas in 1963.
Then-Texas Gov. John B. Connally, who was sitting in the same car as Kennedy, was seriously wounded during the shooting.
Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the shooting, which happened a little more than 1,000 days into Kennedy’s presidency. Oswald was then fatally shot by Jack Ruby on Nov. 24.
After Kennedy died, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as the country’s 36th president.
Kennedy was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
