VIDEO: Officers surprise Mankato boy for his birthday

A young boy in Mankato just celebrated a very special birthday.

Oliver Decker’s mother, Caitlin Decker, shared a video with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, saying they were supposed to be in Florida for Oliver’s birthday but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a no-go for the trip or for any kind of party.

Decker reached out to some friends, telling them Oliver loves police. One of Decker’s friends said her husband is a deputy and that he would stop by.

Decker said she was only expecting a few officers, but instead, they came out in waves for Oliver—both Mankato police officers and Blue Earth County deputies were there.

They even showed him all of their gear and wished him a happy birthday.
