University of St. Thomas encouraging girls to join STEM fields with a summer camp

The University of St. Thomas is having a camp called STEPS to encourage more girls to join the science and math fields.
Elise Rodich, a mechanical engineering student at the University of St. Thomas, tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS all about the camp.
According to the Department of Commerce, women fill nearly half of all U.S jobs but holds only one-quarter of jobs in the stem workforce.
The University of St. Thomas is working to change that by teaching girls the connection between empathy and engineering through their free summer camp to get girls excited and confident to be in STEM fields.
